The Psionics Handbook is intended for use with the Dungeons & Dragons core rulebooks. In 3.0 characters must take psionic classes or feats to access the abilities forcing a player to forgo other abilities in exchange for psionic powers. In the earlier editions most characters had a small chance to receive psionic powers as an extra set of abilities a lucky character could receive powers that were equivalents of magical spells that were not available until mid-to-high levels. One of the key innovations was integrating the psionics system into the feats and class system that third edition emphasized. The book mixed elements from previous versions of the game (such as Power Points from second edition) along with a number of innovations like linking the system closer to the new system of D&D as well as balance changes such as removing the randomness that had characterized the original system.
If you don't have a move-action left to catch the Augment Crystal it falls out at your feet. This book adapted the psionics concept for third edition D&D, with a new emphasis on balance and playability. If you merge the two mind blades back into a single mind blade again you must decided at that time which of the two Augment Crystals is removed and which stays. You could take another move-action and place a 2nd Augment Crystal into the other mind blade. Q: If I split my mind blade into two weapons does an Augment Crystal effect both weapons?Ī: No the crystal would only be applied to the one weapon of your choice. A greater augment crystal can only be used on a +3 mind blade(12th level soulknife). A lesser augment crystal can only be used on a +1 mind blade(4th level soulknife). A least augment crystal can be used by any mind blade(1st level soulknife).
Soulknife's Free Draw Ability: The Soulknife's free draw ability counts as the Quick Draw feat for the purpose of qualifying for feats or prestige classes. All normal Prerequisites must be met for taking the feat. A soulknife gains one psionic feat as a bonus feat at 6th level. Speed of Thought: A soulknife gains Speed of Thought as a bonus feat at 6th level. When doing slashing or bludgeoning damage the critical changes to 20/x2 instead of 19-20/x2. Changing a mindblade, that is already created, to a different type of damage is a move action. The default is piercing damage, but can be changed to either slashing or bludgeoning. Mind Blade(Su): When a soulknife creates his mindblade she can decide at that time the type of damage(piercing, bludgeoning, slashing) the mindblade will cause. We also have made two small improvements to the class to help in its flexibility and ability to survive to later levels. With this in mind we have created/allowed additional soulknife specific feats to help the class. Unfortunately it falls behind badly compared to new classes from the PHB2 or Tome of Battle. Shadow d20 Notes: The Soulknife class is a great class with lots of fun options. 3.5 D&D Soulknife, Psionic Class - EnhancementĮxpanded Psionics Handbook SRD Class Link
